ILTACON 2018 Recap

by Carly Wilson / September 10, 2018

After five days at ILTACON 2018, the BigSquare team finally arrived home from National Harbor with sore feet, new friends, and renewed excitement about whats to come for the legal industry (especially the future of business intelligence). The conference this year was an exciting, educational, and fun week long event for those with a technology focus in the legal industry. BigSquare traveled National Harbor, MD for our 5th year as ILTACON sponsors. The conference was held at The Gaylord National Resort & Convention , which never disappoints.

First and foremost, before we recap any more about the conference we would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth to say hello, take a look at latest release of our matter management application, or to just learn more about our BI applications. It was great to make new connections and catch up with old friends. We always love to see and hear from our clients and how their administration and attorneys are loving our business intelligence applications.

"BigSquare was the best investment we made in the past two years. It was easy to implement and our attorneys love it"

We couldn't believe how busy the exhibit hall was this year! The foot traffic at our booth never seemed to stop, not to mention all the meetings we had set up prior to the conference.  Maybe this had something to do with our announcement the Friday before ILTACON? We released our newest version (V5) of our Matter Management application. It brought buzz from existing clients as well as other attendees. Thankfully, we know implementation and upgrades of Matter Management V5 will go much smoother than some other legal vendors implementations, but don't take it from us. Steve Sobotta from McNees jokingly referred to our BI implementations as so, "BigSquare is the healing ointment for previous frustrating software implementations."

Legal Technology Is Booming

One thing was very clear from ILTACON: legal tech as both an industry and as an area of importance for law firms is booming. The massive convention center at National Harbor was bustling with attendees and vendors! We heard that some sessions were so full people were sitting on the floor and for others staff had to turn people away. Not to mention, the vendor exhibit hall was packed! Even at meal times, the restaurants in the area were always on a wait.

While this is great for the conference and vendors, the bigger point is that it truly reflects a change in the legal market! The use of technology has clearly become something legal professionals use day-to-day, finally! We are also beginning to see the industry steadily moving and focusing legal tech towards a strategic level of importance.

What's next?

Our team is already excited for next year’s conference in Orlando! ILTACON serves as a great time to network with legal professionals and further our education in the field. This conference is always a success, and something we look forward to sponsoring each year. We want to say thanks again to everyone we met at ILTACON, it was an excellent time. Below are a few photos taken during the week.
