We are lucky to have such a fantastic group of law firms and legal professionals, it is such a pleasure to work with them. 2019 was a great year at BigSquare, we can’t believe another year has come and gone!
Company & Client Growth
The BigSquare team has been so busy this year that we needed to expand not only our office but also our staff. With a growing team at BigSquare we expanded beyond the walls of our old office. In March we moved into a to a brand new building to provide extra space for the growing company. You can find us now at 1000 Noble Energy Drive in Southpointe.
We have current clients coming back for more of our applications and taking advantage of our upgrades and product enhancements! We also had a record year in new client growth. Not only do we continue to support and upgrade those long term clients to keep our amazing relationships, but we added 30+ new client installations to our growing customer base with more contracts under wraps for first quarter next year!
We love to hear what they have to say about the products, and of course share their thoughts with you as well. This year we featured two of our clients on our website and collaborated to create case studies.
The first was a 150 Timekeeper Aderant Law Firm that was looking for an intuitive and straightforward dashboard that would provide an ability to drill-down to more granular details. A highly configurable solution with customizations accessible in-house, the ability to create role-specific views, and top-notch security. Ultimately they implemented BigSquare’s Attorney Analytics which gave them that and more. In their case study, we discuss why this Harrisburg law firm decided to implement their business intelligence solution before their new time and billing system. Our case study highlights why this firm chose BigSquare for their BI needs over the other legal BI vendors.
Our other case study was a 400+ Timekeeper Elite Enterprise Law Firm that was looking for a business intelligence solution that's simple and easy to use. Something that you could put on the desktop of anyone at the firm and they would understand what they were looking at. Ultimately they implemented BigSquare’s Attorney Analytics and Firm Focus which gave them that and more. In their case study, we discuss why the firm decided to implement their business intelligence solution now when they knew that down the road they are going to be forced to switch from Enterprise. And our case study highlights this firm's goals with a BI solution.

We have also seen a tremendous shift in what our clients want and are happy that we were the first legal BI vendor to deliver a true hosted SaaS model. Our model was up and running in 2018, but this year we've had even more clients choose to go with the subscription cloud route. Conferences & Events
Our sales and marketing team was very busy attending the different industry events and conferences this year. In March we traveled to Chicago, IL for the Mechanics of Law Firm Profitability conference. While the conference was about the entire profitability cycle: people, process, and technology, the biggest of those three that was discussed during the sessions and panel discussions was people. We heard many times the importance of remembering that law firms are made up of people and you need communication to foster good trusting relationships as the basis for a successful firm. This blog post covers some great topics of discussion at the profitability event.
Less than a month later we traveled back to Chicago for the Business Intelligence and Analytics conference. This conference explored the unique challenges of changing culture, communicating findings internally and with clients, and how to build practices and firms that are set to compete at the highest level. One of our clients spoke on our behalf and shared his insights on BI and BigSquare. We have a recap of the event here and the slide deck from his presentation as well.
As always, in August we travel to one of the biggest events of the year, ILTACON. This was our 6th year attending and sponsoring, and it did not disappoint. You can take a look at our week in this video! The conference was in Orlando, FL at the Swan and Dolphin Resort & Convention Center. We look forward to this event every year because there are so many in attendance. It allows us plenty of time to catch up with old and new friends and speak with many of our wonderful clients.
Our last conference of the year took us back to NYC for the COO & CFO Forum. This event is another we've attended and sponsored for 6 years. This year's conference took a comprehensive look at management initiatives across law firms. As the legal services market continues to welcome new entrants and the ongoing encroachment of the Big Four into global markets, law firm executives face myriad challenges around rethinking legal service delivery and addressing firm culture in ways few may have initially imagined. We always look forward to connecting with new faces, and also catching up with some of our clients when we attend these conferences.
This year we also teamed up with one of our Philadelphia clients, Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr to host a client lunch and learn session. We had 20+ attendees from various Philadelphia firms, the majority of them being firm management. The session kicked off with a catered lunch and some networking and attendees spent the remainder of the lunch hour hearing from Paul Levy about Saul Ewing's experience with business intelligence at his firm, specifically BigSquare's applications. The BigSquare team enjoyed the time spent at one of our client's offices, and the opportunity to connect with other legal professionals.
Our team is working hard to organize and plan for our first client lunch and learn of 2020 to kick off the year! Stay tuned for more details on that!
End of the year fun
We are going to celebrate our accomplishments and the end of a great year with a holiday party at Top Golf again later this month. Last year's event was a hit, so we decided to take it to the links again for food, fun, and some friendly competition. Take a look at pictures from last year's event.
What's to come?
We are already well aware that next year is going to be just as successful and busy at the BigSquare office. Quarter one is almost completely full and Quarter two is quickly booking up for new installations. The marketing and sales team has started planning for events and conferences and is looking forward to another busy year of travel. Our development team has some wonderful new enhancements and upgrades coming for our clients and applications for the coming year, we can't wait to share!
